Student success means the difference between life and death in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Education. The EMS program at Kellogg Community College resuscitated academic student success with three simple strategies: Development of study skills, fostering active learning, and embedding technology to build the capacity of each learner. The recognition and efforts explored in this session will demonstrate simple but effective strategies to improve student success and revive the spark in each learner.

Objectives:
At the completion of this training session, the participant will be able to:
  • Outline tools and tactics necessary for the effective development of student study skills and habits.
  • Examine the benefits and limitations of active learning within the classroom and how it relates to student success.
  • Distinguish the value and strategic effects of technology on 21st-century learners.
